Financial Peace

"FFFFFRRRRREEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!" (Mel Gibson from "Braveheart")

Well, I realize that it's been nearly over a month since my last post (sounds like someone else I know, CD) ;) I have been busy, busy getting a new car, moving into an apartment with my husband, and getting our finances in order.

A word of advice to all you newlyweds out there, or engaged couples. Here is a prerequisite to marriage or a homework assignment for you married folks. Here is a book you must read before you get married, or before you get very far into marriage. "Financial Peace" by Dave Ramsey. Even if you have the highest income in the world and the best paying job, this book is a lifesaver at any stage of life. It's also for singles, for families, for couples, for EVERYONE. The truth is, money is a part of our world and we have to have it to live. I don't know what place you are all in, but I can probably suspect that the word "budget" sends all of you away screaming and piling the covers over your head.

Even if you've been married for awhile, this book tells you how to spend, how to save, how to shop, how to sell, how to make money, how to give money away, how to prepare for your future and your children's future and it is EASY! I hope I don't sound too much like a commercial, but anyone can do this! This is not one of those "get rich quick" scheme books or anything like that, but if you turn on the TV for two seconds, you'll see a commercial for "how to get rid of your debt FAST" and all that pardon me, but CRAP on the box! This book tells you how to beware of all the things salesmen of any kind might EVER say. It tells you how to deal with bill collectors, and how to keep an accurate track of your own credit report. I never understood all those facts and figures before, like all those percentages, and equity and those big financial words, but Dave Ramsey explains it SO well! It is amazing! Let me just share real quick what this book has done for my husband and me.

For once in our lives we don't have to worry. We don't have to worry and ask ourselves, "Are we gonna have enough for this..." "Are we gonna have enough for that..." because with this plan we will ALWAYS HAVE ENOUGH! We will no longer spend, spend, spend and write endless checks carelessly and worry if we're gonna bounce something. The rent will be paid, we will have groceries, the car will be paid for, and we will have TONS LEFT OVER! It will take some discipline and sacrifice, but ultimately if you have an income, if you have a shelter, transportation, and food, all of your basic needs are met! We don't have to be stressed anymore! We don't have to argue about MONEY anymore! No more money fights! All it takes is just fifteen minutes each month, to sit down TOGETHER and write out a "monthly cash flow plan". We now pay cash for everything except the bills and every expense is allotted for in a correpsonding envelope so we always have enough, and it's impossible to go over! SIMPLE! Anyways, for all of you reading this, please pick up a copy of "Financial Peace" by Dave Ramsey. Actually, you will want to read "Financial Peace Revisited" because he added extra chapters on marriage, families, and your children. Without sounding too cliched, this book is a MUST READ!

Please email me and let me know how the book changes your life, and be sure to click on the title of this post "Financial Peace" at the top of this, it should be underlined. That will take you to Dave Ramsey's website, and will put you on track for the rest of your life! You'd be crazy not to do this! Love to you all!

Wendy

P.S. One more added incentive to read this book. Dave is a Christian financial counselor who loves the Lord Jesus Christ and although he doesn't proclaim Christ throughout the entire book (he waits til near the end) his love for the Lord is evident throughout. You will never look at money the same way again and you will never make a purchase the same way again! BE ON YOUR WAY TO BEING FREE!
